As a teenager have you ever thought -
My life doesn’t really matter yet?
I will get serious about God later in life?
Proposition - As we begin a two week topical study on the life of Moses I want us to see this week that God was working in Moses’ life even as a baby.
Interrogative question - What steps can you take to trust that God is working behind the scenes in your life?
1 Now a man from the house of Levi went and married a daughter of Levi. 2 The woman conceived and bore a son; and when she saw that he was beautiful, she hid him for three months. 3 But when she could hide him no longer, she got him a wicker basket and covered it over with tar and pitch. Then she put the child into it and set it among the reeds by the bank of the Nile. 4 His sister stood at a distance to find out what would happen to him. 5 The daughter of Pharaoh came down to bathe at the Nile, with her maidens walking alongside the Nile; and she saw the basket among the reeds and sent her maid, and she brought it to her. 6 When she opened it, she saw the child, and behold, the boy was crying. And she had pity on him and said, “This is one of the Hebrews’ children.” 7 Then his sister said to Pharaoh’s daughter, “Shall I go and call a nurse for you from the Hebrew women that she may nurse the child for you?” 8 Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, “Go ahead.” So the girl went and called the child’s mother. 9 Then Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, “Take this child away and nurse him for me and I will give you your wages.” So the woman took the child and nursed him. 10 The child grew, and she brought him to Pharaoh’s daughter and he became her son. And she named him Moses, and said, “Because I drew him out of the water.”

1 Now a man from the house of Levi went and married a daughter of Levi. 2 The woman conceived and bore a son; and when she saw that he was beautiful, she hid him for three months.
Moses was born during a dangerous time:
Pharaoh ordered Hebrew baby boys to be killed (Exodus 1:22)
Yet Moses’ parents saw something special:
“She saw that he was beautiful…” (v. 2)
This wasn’t just physical—it reflected God’s purpose.
God has a plan for your life—even before you realize it.
5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, And before you were born I consecrated you; I have appointed you a prophet to the nations.”
13 For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother’s womb. 14 I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, And my soul knows it very well. 15 My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the depths of the earth; 16 Your eyes have seen my unformed substance; And in Your book were all written The days that were ordained for me, When as yet there was not one of them.
10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.

Every detail is planned
You are not random.
👉 God designed your life with purpose.
Do you believe your life has purpose?
Or are you living like it’s meaningless?

Moses’ mother places him in a basket in the Nile.
Think about that:
A helpless baby
In a river
During a time of danger
But then:
👉 Pharaoh’s daughter finds him
This is not luck—this is God’s providence.
God is working behind the scenes—even when life feels uncertain.
28 And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.
9 The mind of man plans his way, But the Lord directs his steps.
7 The Lord will protect you from all evil; He will keep your soul. 8 The Lord will guard your going out and your coming in From this time forth and forever.

When you watch a movie:
You see the actors
But not the crew behind the scenes
Lighting, sound, direction—all unseen.
God is like that:
👉 Always working, even when you don’t see Him.
Are you trusting God when life feels out of control?
Or only when things make sense?

7 Then his sister said to Pharaoh’s daughter, “Shall I go and call a nurse for you from the Hebrew women that she may nurse the child for you?” 8 Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, “Go ahead.” So the girl went and called the child’s mother. 9 Then Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, “Take this child away and nurse him for me and I will give you your wages.” So the woman took the child and nursed him.
God used:
Moses’ mother
Moses’ sister
Pharaoh’s daughter
To protect and raise him
Even more amazing:
👉 Moses’ own mother gets to raise him!
God places people in your life to help you grow.
6 “These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart. 7 “You shall teach them diligently to your sons and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up.
6 Train up a child in the way he should go, Even when he is old he will not depart from it.
5 For I am mindful of the sincere faith within you, which first dwelt in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am sure that it is in you as well.

Your faith is like that:
👉 Others invest in you so you can carry it forward.
Are you listening to the people God placed in your life?
Or ignoring their guidance?

10 The child grew, and she brought him to Pharaoh’s daughter and he became her son. And she named him Moses, and said, “Because I drew him out of the water.”
Moses grows up in Pharaoh’s household:
Educated
Trained
Prepared
Later, God will use all of that.
What you are learning now is preparation for what God will do later.
10 “He who is faithful in a very little thing is faithful also in much; and he who is unrighteous in a very little thing is unrighteous also in much.
9 Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary.
1 Remember also your Creator in the days of your youth, before the evil days come and the years draw near when you will say, “I have no delight in them”;

Practice long before the game
Train when no one is watching
Your teenage years are training ground years.
Are you preparing your heart for God’s future?
Or wasting the opportunity?
SO WHAT?
God is Always Working!!
Moses didn’t choose:
Where he was born
His circumstances
His early challenges
But God used all of it.
As a teenager you might think -
“I’m too young”
“My life isn’t important yet”
But Moses’ life teaches us -
👉 God is working in you right now (God is always working)
Ask Yourself:
Am I trusting God’s plan?
Am I listening to His Word?
Am I preparing for what He has ahead?
12 Let no one look down on your youthfulness, but rather in speech, conduct, love, faith and purity, show yourself an example of those who believe.
Final Illustration: The Seed
A seed:
Looks small
Seems unimportant
But over time:
👉 It becomes something great
Right now—you are a seed.
And if you trust God…
👉 He will grow your life into something powerful for His glory.
